We know whales and dolphins are incredibly intelligent mammals that we love and protect. Their role is important in maintaining ocean life, along with sharks. However, 300,000 whales and dolphins die each year due to commercial fishing as by-catch. It is difficult to imagine and capture what 300,000 looks like, so the author depicted 821 strokes — the number of individuals per day.
The author suggests thinking about what everyone can do to change the situation by looking into the eyes of these beautiful creatures.
