The Lady with the Parrot is a copy of a portrait of the first half of the 18th century created by the Venetian artist Rosalba Carriera, whom her contemporaries called the queen of pastels (these are artistic crayons). This work was done using the technique of smooth oil painting on a beautifully prepared, neatly fixed canvas, varnished to protect it from dust and moisture.
