Honoré Daumier has a whole series of paintings dedicated to Don Quixote, and it would seem that by drawing the one named after the character, the artist could present the hero with the face he would like to express his essence. But instead, the painting turns into a tantamaresque with a faceless slit for the head. The author seems to appeal to the viewer if he wants to try on the armor of the Knight of the Sad Image. After all, this is how Daumier probably felt himself, continuing to fight, even knowing that the fight was hopeless.
