Rock garden (Jap. First of all, letters. “dry mountains and waters”).
The rock garden is a flat area covered with sand or small pebbles. The main elements of the garden are groups of rough stones. The arrangement and composition of stones in groups are subject to certain rules based on the ideological concepts of Zen Buddhism.
