The girl from Vöhl, according to Repin's memoirs, was alive, direct and, posing, was spinning all the time. The irony of the master, which may not yet be fully understood by him, is that despite the rags, the muddy appearance, we have a future prom queen in front of us and she is beginning to understand it.
