This painting depicts Lasong, the spirit of the forest, a complex chthonic character
from Belarusian mythology, which is the embodiment of the forest as part of a space potentially alien to humans.
In the center of the painting is Lyasun, represented as a humanoid grandfather with a bear's left leg, an owl, an assistant spirit on his shoulder, and his staff is in his hands — well, on his back he has a blanket of snow from under which greenery breaks through, and mushrooms and berries grow under his feet.
The work is dedicated to Belarusian mythology, and the image of Lyasun was widespread throughout Belarus, and faith in him served to develop in a peculiar way
