The painting depicts the Virgin Mary. Her image is surrounded by traditional Belarusian paintings, typical of rustic kufras. Maya Maria is a synthesis of Belarusian folk art, the vivid color of the Spanish Catholic tradition and the Mexican iconography of Virgen de Guadalupe. This image represents personal spiritual experiences and feelings. It illustrates my relationship to the spiritual world and the world around me.
