Prayer

The embroidery is based on the painting “Prayer” by Villa-Adolphe Bougros, a French painter and a prominent representative of 19th-century salon academism. Of the artist's five children born in their first marriage, four died without surviving to adulthood. Eventually, during childbirth, the wife died too - along with the infant. Undoubtedly, this has put a certain imprint on his work. The theme of mothers and children prevails in his lifelong works... I was impressed with the touching seriousness of this little girl at so young, in her expressive view whether the prying, the pleas... all the pose, the folded pens, indicate grafted from infancy astility. The work on the painting lasted 5 months. The number of stitches is 29223.
