NIENNA - the name comes from the Quenian root nei — “tear”. The lord of pity and hope in Arda. Nienna's Thistles
were in the far west of Aman, near Mandos, and their windows looked outside the walls of the world. Nianna rarely came to Valimar, the capital of Valinor, where joy reigned, but often visited Mandos; she comforted the souls of those there if they called to her, and turned their sorrow into wisdom.
