“Many thousands of years ago, four deities lived in the world. They overshadowed both heaven and earth with their beauty and strength. And the people chose Osiris, the eldest of them, as king. And his wife and sister Isis are the queen. A younger brother named Seth became Osiris's loyal general. He never knew defeat in battle, and he faithfully kept Egypt from war and grief by walking along the desert border while his wife Nephthys kept the family home, carrying a child for him in her womb...” This painting is the first of the triptych “The Court of Enead”. The triptych is dedicated to Egyptian mythology, and the painting Sirius describes the birth and life of Osiris.
