Before us is a young woman who has chosen the hard path of selfless service to Christ and her native France. The naked body in this case is a symbol of defenselessness, the fragility of the flesh opposed to the power of the soul. In accordance with Christian tradition, the story of Jeanne is told in the language of symbols — a cross of martyrdom, a crown of heavenly glory and an angel praising the victory of the human spirit. The lithograph “Joan d'Arc” is in the collection of the National Art Museum of RB.
