The triptych “Gioconda №5" is the stages of the “explosion” of the painting “Gioconda” by Leonardo DaVinci.
Art theorist Boris Groys compared the practices of destroying Palmyra's cultural monuments to the phenomenon of iconoclasm, and drew parallels with the avant-garde in art and Malevich and Marinetti's ideas. But unlike real vandals physically destroying works of art, the artist, “blasting” a monument on the surface of the canvas or “killing painting” with the work “Black Square” - creates a new one: new work, new meaning, new direction, new philosophy. “№5" in the title is a reference to Jackson Pollock's work “Composition No. 5"
