The image of the Spanish gypsy, the heroine of Mérimée's novella, has been resolved as succinctly as possible. Spain is a fan and arched foot, stiffened in a typical flamenco pa. The recalcitrant strands of hair reflect the heroine's freedom-loving character, as well as the eternal gypsy motif of a nomadic, chaotic life full of unpredictable events. The lithograph of “Carmen” is in the collection of the National Art Museum of RB.
