A three-hour walk northwest of the 2600m base camp on the northern slope of Mount Elbrus lies the unimaginable Shaukam River Valley. This is a night view of Elbrus from the north shoulder of Shaukam, the pass to the valley. The lights of the assault camp at 3800 m are visible. I would recommend actually going there. This is a different planet (both the Elbrus region and the Shaukama Valley).
