The hoopoe is one of our most exotic fiery tufted birds. The hoopoe loves open spaces: meadows, the outskirts of the forest, but can also settle near humans. It is more common in the southern regions, but now it can be found almost throughout Belarus, including Minsk.
Fireworks are not the most obvious, but they are a serious cause of death for birds. The sounds and bright lights make the birds abruptly leave their places of accommodation. They hit obstacles in the dark. In winter, the cause of death from fireworks can be the amount of energy spent on throwing and panic; for small birds this can be critical.
