This is the Karachaul stream, born of the eponymous glacier, flowing down from the northern slopes of Mount Elbrus, which stands in the distance over there (10 km to the top in a straight line, +3 km in height). The stream supplies drinking water to the base camp, which stands here on the high bank, 2600m. All climbs on the northern slope start from here. Emmanuel Polyana/Irahiktuz Plateau.
